Volunteer

We have a pool of volunteers from different churches in Wellington, Hutt Valley and Porirua who are dedicated to making a difference in our community. We are a non-denominational Christian organisation. You don’t need qualifications or experience just a caring heart and a willingness to lend a helping hand.

All volunteers attend a training day which covers drug and alcohol information, communication skills, legal knowledge and evangelism. We also like our people to be trained in first aid and courses are run from time to time.

Volunteers are rostered on in a team of 4-6 people to go out every three to six weeks on Friday or Saturday nights. Without the assistance of these volunteers Drug-ARM would not be able to go out on the streets as we do.

NEXT VOLUNTEER TRAINING DAY

 Date:      Saturday 9 November 2019

Venue:   River of Life Centre, 774 High Street (corner of High Street & Lincoln Avenue), Lower Hutt

Time:      9.30am to 3.00pm (approx)

If you are interested in becoming involved in the Drug-ARM street van ministry, this training is a pre-requisite to joining the team.  New volunteers will learn from professionals working with people with addictions, drug trends, communication skills, street stories, how to keep safe on the streets and evangelism.   New volunteers are asked to complete an application form and have it signed by their church pastor/leader.  At the end of the training day new volunteers have an informal interview with two committee members to discuss their application and answer any questions they may have.

We encourage anyone interested in joining Drug-ARM to go out with a team as a guest before becoming a volunteer.  To arrange this please email:  drugarmwellington@gmail.com and someone will be in touch with you.

If you have any questions about becoming a volunteer, would like to go out as a guest with a team, and/or would like to request an application form, please email:  drugarmwellington@gmail.com – we would love to hear from you!

Please contact us if you would like to get involved. We are always looking for more people to join us!
